Sunday - Another Great Day!

Ben's doing really well again today.

He went for a big walk this morning, around 15-20 steps unassisted. He's still tiring quite quickly but this will improve as he continues into his daily exercise routine.

They did another Bronch just to check for any secretion build up. It was minimal. The nurse commented that it's looking quite healthy down there at the moment. Again it was while Ben was awake, which is a little uncomfortable on him but allows the nurses to keep him awake without needing to sedate him for the operation.

This afternoon he jumped in a wheel chair and went for a little trip to the front of the hospital (around 100m). It was great to see him outside and after only being allowed 2 visitors at once he was for the first time able to see the whole family.

Another great day. If things keep going on this path than it won't be long before we see him out of ICU!

Dear Paul,

This blog is terrific. I wish I had known about it sooner. Ben has not been out of my thoughts ever since I got Tony's telephone call telling me that Ben had had the transplant. Things are looking very good, it seems. The improvement does seem to be by a two steps forward and one step back sort of method, but it is progress and that is the important thing. Maureen and I as well as Kate, Patrick and Monica and their families are thinking of Ben. The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart have also informed the very wide MSC family and asked for prayers for Ben. Many have expressed to me that they will keep praying for Ben. I wish you and all the family and particularly Ben all the very best. I hope that in due course when he is up to it I will be able to come and visit him. I shall be checking your blog every day. It is a wonderful way of keeping us all up to date with Ben's excellent progress. Thanks again.

Love and best wishes,

Rob Brian

Dear Paul,

This site is wonderful. Like Rob we wish we had known about it sooner, however, it is great to get a day by day description of Ben's progress. It must have been a real buzz for you all to be able to see Ben together instead of only two at a time.Look forward to reading another good report on Ben's progress again tomorrow. Please pass on our love to Ben and, of course, Janyne and all of you.
Love Tony and Helen
